Soup, hangovers and the "trots". I can only be Liverpool...

You join us bleary-eyed in Liverpool, home of The Beatles and 'Brookside'.

We arrive onsite early in the morning to find the crew assembling the lighting rig and backline for the show. We grab wholesome soup and coffee and wait until soundcheck.

"We're having a great time," says Biffy Clyro bassist James Johnston. "Last night was fantastic. Glasgow shows are always great. I think the reputation of our hometown fans spreads to other towns and cities and people make the effort to travel here to see what the atmosphere is like."

Hobbling on his crutches, Matt Caughthran - The Bronx frontman - seems to be in good spirits despite a raging hangover and his knee injury. "My head is a little sore," he smiles. "I blame the Buckfast. Still, it's taking my mind off me knee. I had a great time and was thinking that if there was a American version of James Bond, that would have to be me. I'm right, aren't I?"

theAUDITION vocalist Danny Stevens is wandering around in a fetching pair of tartan pyjama bottoms. Its a strong look and one which will surely catch on. That is if he left the dressing room. "They're extremely comfortable," he offers before declining a photo opportunity. "Put your camera away. I don't want people stealing my look. Would I go onstage wearing them? Let me see. No, son." The band say 'son' a lot, despite being the youngest band on the tour.

I Am Ghost take advantage of the wireless internet facility by answering their fans questions and responding to comments on their MySpace page. Tonight's show is a success with many fans clamouring to meet the bands at the merchandise stall downstairs. One fan is an actress from 'Hollyoaks'. I'd describe as blonde but viewers of the Chester-based drama would quickly point out that could be anyone.

After the show, Ben and James, their tour manager Neil, guitar tech Churd and myself take a cab to Roadkill. Biffy DJ for an hour, treating the fans to choice cuts from Helmet, Everclear, Kerbdog, Tool and Deftones. I Am Ghost commandeer the booth towards the end and go for an 80s-tinged set. We stagger back to the bus and one by one crawl into our bunks. Next stop Birmingham.

One member of the traveling party - I'm not saying it was me, no way, uh-uh - had a dizzying bout of the runs which caused fear and confusion. With the bus rule of 'No Pooing On The Bus', this caused great inconvenience and at one stage, tears and shivering. Luckily, the bus driver stopped at a truckers stop and the crisis was averted. A source close to the unnamed party said, "That was a close one. I'd better not write anything in the blog about this."

Oh.
